Beaches, sun, and swimming was what Whitney thought she'd get when she moved all the way across the country to the Atlantic Coast. Water and Blood has strong main characters in Whitney and Sam, and I LOVE the alternating narratives from the two. My favorite books have MCs with strength, stubbornness, and compassion. This is obviously one of my new favorites and it will be yours, too. Excuse me while I start book 2, Songs and Fins, immediately.

This is a very well written book. I was hooked from the beginning. I would highly recommend it to anyone but mostly young adults. I never tell what is inside, for that is for you to find out. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Can't wait for the next one. Going to read some other books from this author.
As shown in the other books by Ms. McMichael this woman can take a handful of paranormalisms and spin a brand new complex world! I know because I just spent about 3 hours in the Merworld Book One, Water and Blood until after 2 AM! Yes, it is YA and yes there is time spent in a High School. But it is rich in imagination and anyone will likely get lost in this magical story! Don't start it on a work night. Thanks Kristin for your hard work and for sharing it with us. 🌹
LOVED IT!!! This is another winner. Whitney's world just got a lot stranger and with a real hottie. Sam is not only good to look at, but good on the inside where it counts. LOVED Sam's solution.
I like to theme my summer reading. This is my second summer to have the mermaid theme. I sometimes leave my themes chasing new favorite authors, as will the case here.
B. Kristin McMichael has absolutely captivated me with Water and Blood. It amazes me when an author comes up with a new angle on an old idea. I fell in love with the characters and could not stop reading! When life insisted I be doing something else, all I could think about was the book I couldn't be reading at the time. I'm sure once I finish this trilogy I will finish reading everything this author has written!
(The Chalcedony Chronicles teaser has me already anticipating!)
I enjoyed the authors other books but this one was a missed for me. It felt like the audience target for this book was for the very young. Felt no connections to the characters. The writing style was more about telling the readers step by step on what is happening to the story next instead of showing them with emotions. Too cheesy and narrative. Couldn't finish. Really wanted to like this book but I guess I am not the right age. A wasted money for sure.
I finished this book in a day and can't wait to start on the next one. The author keeps the information coming without bogging the book down with too much history. I hope Whitney retains her quick learning and independence for the rest of the series.
A great read about the merpeople for all audiences.
I really can't get enough of B. Kristin McMichael. She writes books that literally everyone can read. The are clean, wholesome, wonderful books. Water and Blood is no different. This is Whitney's story from the Skinwalkers Witchling trilogy. I loved everything about this book. I couldn't put it down, and when I did I was constantly thinking about it. If you haven't read any of B. Kristin McMichael's work, you need to!
